Even the smallest act of kindness
Our world has challenged us and continues to challenge us in ways we’ve never seen before. While a global pandemic rages on, we’re witnessing political and racial upheaval that is leaving us shaken, uncertain and frightened. We’re not the first generation to live through harrowing experiences and while most of us are fortunate to live in peace, they are nonetheless difficult circumstances. Many people have lost their jobs, their independence, their loved ones. When faced with these situations, we are tempted to turn inwards, towards the darkness. Or we can face outwards, searching for the sun and opening our arms to our community.
At Lions Gate Chorus we choose to do just that. In spite of the fact that we haven’t rehearsed together in person since March 10, 2020, our desire to inspire, energize and encourage our audiences hasn’t waned. We knew that Fight Song by Rachel Platten was the perfect vehicle for this message. Originally released in September 2020, the message conveyed is needed just as much now as it was then.
The song’s lyrics remind us that we are stronger together, that even the smallest spark can start a fire and that the smallest act of kindness can send waves of love into motion. We choose to believe in love and community and that together we will come through this, galvanized and grateful for the things that truly matter.
The images and words coming into our homes are hard to swallow and even harder to digest. Instead, let us fill the literal and figurative airwaves with love, kindness and the message that together, we are stronger. The dedication in the video description sums it up nicely.
What small acts of love and kindness have you shared lately, and what will you be doing in the near future? What are you grateful for? Tell us in the comments and inspire others to spread the love!
