We have had an exciting summer doing what we love, sharing our music with others in the community. Here's a summary of our recent performances:
Women's Premier Soccer-North Van, May 21st, 28th, June 19th
Lions Gate performed the national anthems for Canada and the US in four-part harmony to kick-off the soccer league games at Kinsman Stadium.
Canada Day Celebrations-Waterfront Park, North Vancouver, July 1st
Lions Gate was dressed in red on Canada Day at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. It was an extra special day for our director, Sandy, as her husband Tim Marron is now a Permanent Resident of Canada. Sandy dedicated the tune "Canadian Man" to her own Canadian Man! Our special thanks to Rotary Club for the opportunity to perform at this wonderful event.
Kitsilano Showboat-Vancouver, July 16th
Kitsilano Showboat has been a popular summer stage on Vancouver's westside waterfront since 1935. Lions Gate had the opportunity to perform a 30-minute set and received a standing ovation - which we learned was a first for any performers at this venue. Hear us roar!
New West Pride-New Westminster, August 16th
We were honoured to be a part of New West Pride Columbia Street Party this year to celebrate diversity, acceptance and inclusion in our chorus and in our communities. We performed upbeat tunes followed by a mass singing of 'True Colours' in memory of the lives lost in Orlando.
