While Lions Gate Chorus went to retreat in Bellingham last weekend with coach Tony De Rosa, long-time member Cammi MacKinlay was away in Tulsa for a Sweet Adelines International Board meeting. As well as making decisions on the future of the organization, the board and staff kicked off the Bowling for Barbershop fundraiser with a friendly contest between staff teams and board teams, trying to outdo each other in scores AND amount raised. The press was invited, the Talk of Tulsa Show chorus sang, it was a fun event. Cammi’s team is called The Coral Reefs, and it is made up of Peggy Gram, Dale Syverson and Patty Cobb Baker – the Immediate Past president plus three Queens of Harmony!!

100% of the funds raised go to SAI and will be used to fund our educational programs.  If you can find a few dollars (even $5 would be great) to support them, they would really appreciate it! Lots of $5 bills add up quickly! You can go to this page:

As an added incentive, Cammi offered some of her world-famous homemade treats to chorus members who donated $50 or $100.  Go, Cammi, go!

A great article about the kickoff for the fundraiser was posted in the Tulsa World blog: http://www.tulsaworld.com/blogs/post.aspx/Sweet_Adelines_are_very_sweet_indeed_until_one_threatens/3-20693

Great job, Cammi and the Coral Reefs!  It sounds like a fabulous time was had by all.

Ah, there are few forces so irresistable as our kindly, redoubtable Sweet Adeline leaders ... or a locked barbershop chord.

Way to go, Cammi and the Coral Reefs, for the fund raising initiative ... and for showing that reporter a thing or two!
