Lions Gate Chorus is a group of vibrant women who share a love for singing 4-part a cappella music in the barbershop style. This Vancouver-based chorus has a membership of over 100 women of all ages who come from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and as far away as Alberta, Saskatchewan, Washington and Utah.
Founded in 1954, Lions Gate Chorus is the longest-standing Canadian chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singing in the barbershop style. Through their commitment to the musical education and vocal skill development of every member, they have climbed up the International ranks, with their most recent finish of Third Place at the SAI International Competition in Houston, Texas, in October of 2011. They are aiming for gold medals at their next International Competition in Honolulu, Hawaii in November, 2013.
The chorus membership also includes four International Quartet Champions, the immediate past-President of Sweet Adelines International, and Judges in Sound, Music and Showmanship. This talented and committed group of women gathers every Tuesday evening from 7 to 10 pm at the Southmount Citadel Corps gym: 3403 East 49th Ave, Vancouver.
